Bio

Maria Teresa began her musical journey at the age of 6, studying at Escuela Vocacional de Arte “Raul Gomez Garcia. After she completed her Viola Diploma at Conservatorio de Música “José María Ochoa”, Holguin, Cuba, in 2011. She continued her education, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Viola from Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), La Habana, Cuba, in 2016 with top honours. Additionally, she attended the Cuban European Youth Academy (CuE) from 2014 to 2015.  As well taking part alongside Ensemble CuBaroque at Gli Incogniti Academy May 2023 in France.
Orchestral Experience:
In Cuba:
  • Camerata Romeu: Maria Teresa was a member of Camerata Romeu, a renowned all-female chamber orchestra in Cuba, from 2012 to 2017, touring countries like Dominican Republic, Norway, Colombia and Brazil.
  • Havana Lyceum Orchestra: Maria Teresa was part from 2011 to 2017, touring around USA with pianist Simone Dinnerstein for the CD launch Mozart In Havana” SONY RECORDS 2017 and Salzburg Austria for Mozart Festival.
  • Quintet “Opening”: She was also involved with Quintet “Opening” from 2012 to 2017 in Cuba.
  • Ars Longa: Collaborated during 2016 and 2017.

Chamber Music and Ensemble Work:
  •  CuBaroque: Founded in 2020, the group’s aim is to perform high quality early music and working with the experimentation of combining early music with Cuban traditional and Afrocuban folkloric music 
Recording work:
Pedagogical Contributions: As an educator, Maria Teresa teaches music at the Royal Greenwich Music Service and Lycaeum Music in London. She offers private lessons in violin and viola since 2019.
